2017 Late Lottery Credit

The lottery credit is a State property tax credit for people that own their primary residence. Property owners are eligible if they owned a primary residence and lived there on January 1, 2017. The credit for tax year 2017 ranges from $80 to $120 depending on the school district you live in. If you did not receive the lottery credit for 2017 taxes (payable in 2018) and think you are eligible, you can still claim the credit from the Department of Revenue (DOR) until Oct. 1, 2018. The DOR will send you a check for the lottery credit amount if you follow these steps:

  1. Check your tax bill to see if you received a lottery credit.
  2. If you do not have a copy of your 2017 property tax bill, you can get an electronic copy on by following these instructions.
  3. If you did not get the 2017 lottery credit determine if you qualify by reading the explanation of the credit.
  4. If you qualify, fill out and print the LC 300 State required late claim lottery credit form.
  5. Fax or mail the form with a copy of your tax bill to the Department of Revenue by October 1, 2018. The address is on the form. Do not send the signed form to the County.

To get the Lottery Credit for 2018 and future years, fill out the LC-100 and send it to the Dane County Treasurer at P.O. Box 1299, Madison WI 53701-1299 or fax it to 608-266-4154.
